Okay this entry is going to be long, since there's a lot to talk about. But I'll try to keep it as short as I can.

In short, my Granny had a heartattack on Saturday afternoon. It was very minor, and she got to come home this evening, so we're hoping everything's going to be alright. She had to have a stint put in, but I don't know all the details. I'm going to go over tomorrow and talk to her about it and figure everything out.

Secondly, I needed to share this. It was my lunch today. And it was FANTASTIC.

Cut for deliciousness )

And now on to TV, since other than the hearttack, that's the only thing that's been going on the past few days.

I would like to know who decided shows should have seasons. And I would like to hurt that person. I don't want my shows to end!

Cut for finale spoilers )

Thankfully I still have at least one more week left on a few of my shows.

I'll expound on this tomorrow, as I am really really tired right now, but it's been a long weekend. My grandmother had a minor heart attack on Saturday and has been in the hospital since. There's also been a lot of shows/season finale's to talk about. But I'll do that tomorrow. Exhausted right now.

Finally finished the cat box yesterday. Pictures are under the cut. Now if we could only get the cat to use it. . . I've put her food up on the grate so she'll get used to jumping up in it, but I haven't seen or heard her using the box yet. Oh well. I spent too much time on this box for her not to use it.

Cat Box Box )

Didn't get to walk yesterday, since the cat box needed to be stained, and I was gone all day buying the last minute things and putting it together. Then my mom and I made zucchini fries to go with dinner. They are fabulous. Make them. Seriously.

So now I'm on the treadmill. Brother has a game tonight, but I'm trying to get out of going. I hate baseball.

It's been a while since I've written, but I haven't been doing nothing.

Sunday was Mother's Day, so after church my whole family went out for lunch, then my mother and I spent two hours at Walmart buying groceries, since none had been bought in two weeks. We were all starving.

Monday I spent most of the day with my grandfather, making a box to house the litter box that lives in my room. The inspiration came from this site. My cat has an automatic cat little box, but instead of using the handy little carpet ramp to get the litter off her paws, she jumps right out of the box, leaving cat little ALL OVER the carpet. So to fix that problem, we've built a box. I didn't have time to take picture of the project, but I will post a few pictures of the finished product when it's finished. All it lacks is a shelf and a door, and then it'll be finished.

I would have written yesterday as well, but my mom left me a huge list of chores to do, and then my brother had a baseball game and we didn't get home until 9PM. That was just in time to was Glee (best show ever), and go to sleep.

Today was more cat box fun, though we haven't made any more progress than the other day. We just moved it into the house and put the litter box inside so the cat can get used to it. She seems not to mind it at all, so I'm glad. We'll just have to see what happens when we put the door on it.

And of course there's been walking and treadmilling, and I'm reading Jane Eyre still, but it's taking a while. I don't get a lot of time to just sit and read, and the words are in really tiny print.

I don't know who came up with the idea of Netflix instant watch, but I would like to find said person and shake their hand. Or give them a kiss. . . whatever.

I fully intended on going on Netflix and watching something completely different, but in my suggestions box thing, it gave me one of the Doctor Who Christmas specials, one with David Tennant. I couldn't resist. Like I said in my last post, Tennant is my Doctor.

But then it got me going about the TARDIS again, so I thought I would include some pictures.

Seriously, I can't understand why they would make the decision to change her. She was perfect. Perfect and Steampunky in all the good ways. I love Rust Bucket TARDIS. I think I'm going convince my little brother to watch all the seasons with me, just so I can get my Tennant/Rust Bucket TARDIS fix. It's needed.

Okay, quick side note about the neoprene waist trimmer thing. Lots o' sweat. My middle was dripping with grossness. But my posture was fantastic!

Okay, on to Doctor Who. I'm a real big fan of [personal profile] copperbadge, both his fic and his life in general, and if I remember correctly, he's part of the reason I started watching Torchwood and Doctor Who in the first place. I always read his Three Things about the episodes, and I love them. I'm not going to copy him or anything like that, but I am going to give my reaction to the episode.

Beware: Image Heavy Post Ahead

So I made that delicious chicken/almond/zucchini thing again tonight, and this time I remembered to take pictures to show everyone.

Warning: Deliciousness Ahead )

In other news, tomorrow is Mother's Day. So today my dad and I went out to get Mom her present. Mom's always like handmade stuff more than bought things, so I decided that since I already have a bunch of pastel acrylic paints from last summer's art projects, I would buy her a photo box and paint it all pretty. Here's what happened.

Craftiness Abounds! )

I went to the library today, since I decided to torture myself by reading all the great romances over the summer. I'm starting out with Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte. It's really long, and due back on the 22nd. If I can pull myself away from the computer long enough to read it, I know I can have it finished. I'm excited to get some culture.

I bought something else today. A neoprene waist trimming band. I saw it on Dr. Oz the other day and really wanted to give it try, and when I saw one at Walmart today for 5 bucks I couldn't resist. I've only been wearing it for a few hours, but it's really making me aware of my posture. I have terrible posture except RIGHT after I do yoga, so this will be good for that. I don't know what effect it's actually going to have on my waist trimming, but at this point I'm willing to try anything.

New Doctor Who on tonight, and I'm really excited. I'll save that for another post though, after it's over. I don't want to make this post any longer than it already is.

I couldn't decide which icon to use for this post, the cooking or the movie one, but since I want to talk about the food I made tonight more than the movie I watched, I'll use the cooking one.

I'm a big fan of just finding random ingredients and throwing them together into something delicious. The last time I did it, there was pasta, tomatoes, roast beef, Parmesan cheese, Italian dressing, peppers, and zucchini involved, and it was basically like eating heaven.

Today I had something equally delicious. I wish I had taken pictures of it, since it looked REALLY good too, but that just means that I get to make it again later! Anyway, I have a bag of frozen grilled chicken strips, so I drizzled some olive oil in a skillet, put some strips in there to heat up. Along with that, I threw in a little bit of parsley, oregano, and thyme (my go-to herbs), and then I sliced up a bit of zucchini REALLY thin, and tossed it into the pan along with some roasted almonds. The result was AMAZING, and I can't wait to make/eat it again.

On a second point, I watched Iron Man again today with my father, in preparation for going to see the second movie. I loved it just as much this time as I did the first time I watched it. Robert Downey Jr. is quite delicious. I mean seriously, look at this:

Okay, now I'm going to expound upon yesterdays mini post, because I was exhausted.

I decided this summer while I'm home and my brother is in school that I'm going to walk to pick him up during the week. We only live about a mile and a half from his school, so it's a three mile walk almost every day. It's really not a big deal, and it feels really good. . . after the exhaustion has worn off of course. I'm hoping that, along with the walking on the treadmill will do a lot to help the weight boost. It was really weird the first morning after the walk when my right knee wouldn't work though.

Another thing I discovered that I hadn't watched before: Dr. Oz. New favorite show. I enjoy educational television. Today he was talking about alternative medicine, and I think I've found something I want to try. A jelly bath. You put this gel stuff in the water and it keeps the heat in longer than regular water. It appears to be very relaxing. I should try it.

It's been a long day, otherwise. Dad worked up enough time that he doesn't have to go to work today, so he stayed home. . . and when Dad stays home, we do work. Last night we mowed half the LARGE yard, and today we finished that off, cut some tree limbs, and washed three cars. I'm thoroughly exhausted, but still walking on the treadmill.

I meant to finish this post earlier today, but now it's 11:15 and I'm really tired. So I'll write it tomorrow, but it's about how I walk 3 miles a day and Dr. Oz's show, which I'm rapidly becoming addicted to.

It always creeps me out a little/gets me excited when I hear my hometown mentioned on TV shows. I'm from Tallahassee, FL, which, as not too many people know, is the capital of the state.

For instance, there's an episode of Brotherly Love (I miss this show so much), where Matt doesn't know what the capital of Florida is (The first instance is at about minute 4 in Part 1.), and I can't express how much I loved this episode when I was younger. The joke continues through the whole episode, and it really shows how a lot of people think. Most people think that the capital is Orlando, or Miami, or Disney World. But no, it's up here in Tallahassee.

What creeps me out is shows like Criminal Minds. I don't normally watch it, but my mother does, and she turned it on tonight while I was still in the room and I heard them talking about Tallahassee. The episode was all about a couple of serial killers in the Tallahassee area. And at one point, they talk about FSU. . . my university. I mean, I know it's just a show, but Ted Bundy was not just a show. I get nervous walking around campus at night, since my father is a police officer, I've always been told not to walk alone, so I don't.

I'm just glad I've got three more months before I'm back on campus.

So here goes. Going to try the blog thing YET again. Hopefully this time I'll keep it up, which I definitely need to do. I have a bad habit of not finishing what I start, especially when it comes to blogging. But I think that if I keep up with this new idea I got and get some followers, maybe I'll come up with a few interesting things to say.

First off, introductions. My name is Claire. I'm 21 and in college to be a Biology Teacher, which is getting more exhausting every day.

So, how am I going to keep up this blog when others have fallen by the wayside? Well, I was "Stumbling" around the Internet and came across this article. Since I have been struggling with my weight for a few years, never being able to control myself enough to keep it where I want, I thought this would be a really cool idea. So I called my grandfather when I got home for the summer from school, and yesterday he came over and cut a board for my own treadmill computer desk. (Pictures under the cut.) In addition, I'm going to walk to pic my little brother up from school for the rest of May until he's done for the year. We only live about 1.5 miles from the school, so it's really not a big deal to walk, and it feels really good by the time I get back. I just hope this works, because it's certainly tiring me out.

Treadmill Desk )

And now for the meat of this first entry. I want this blog to be about random things I see during the day. And while I was writing this entry, I've also been watching Gossip Girl online, because every girl is allowed to have a few guilty pleasures. Anyway, it was on one of those commercial breaks, and the commercial was about Cervical Cancer. I've been seeing a lot of these commercials on various online sites like Hulu and Fancast, and they're all deceptively cheery. "What if I meet someone? What if he likes me too? What if he gives me HPV?" Dun dun DUN! That, along with all the bright colors. . . it's creepy. I mean, I know HPV and Cervical Cancer are huge things. I got the Guardasil shots, and I learned all about HPV and cancer in my Cell Biology class this past semester. I just get weirded out by the happy-turn-sad commercials.

It reminds me of all the tampon commercials and how much I love the ones that make fun of the happy ones. It's a topic of conversation around my dorm apartment. Four girls living together for nine months out of the year? Tampon conversations are bound to come up.

Sorry if it's kind of a gross topic to start out a blog, but it's what I saw, so it's what I wrote.
